The first thing that I would like for all of you to know about me is that although I am not a member of a particular religion, I do believe there is a God and I am not it! My simple wellness guide is designed as an aid to help you get started to develop your own personal guide that works for you. It is not perfect. All of your suggestions are welcomed.

I have had the privelege of working in the mental health field for twenty years. My area of interest focused on addiction. I was interested in any kind of addiction whether it be gambling, sex, food, alcohol or other drugs. I learned from people like Melody Beattie, Terry Gorski and of course, Sigmund Freud. I studied different types of treatment and learned mainly from my clients how to work with addicts. My clients consisted mainly of professionals like physicians, attorneys, nurses and athletes. Want to know when an addict is lying? Their lips are moving! They don't even know how much they lie until they get clean and sober. I mean really clean and sober! Not just not using. A major change is needed in ALL areas of their lives.

In the past five years, I have worked as a new construction maintenance person, postal carrier, bank teller, flight attendant and my last adventure was serving as a CNA/office person for Hospice. What a great experience that was. I am currently unable to work due to alot of health problems over the year 2008. Do I know about major changes? I think so! Don't have a clue what God has in store for me next.

One of the motivating pieces for developing my website is that over the years, as life continues to become more and more stressful, I have a firm belief that "KEEPING IT SIMPLE" is essential for all over wellness. To me, awareness is the most important first step for change. If I am not aware that I have a problem then I won't even have an opportunity to make changes. Addicts have taught me that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results!

Another motivating factor is my friends. I have met a lot of people and hope to meet more. Some are "acquaintances" that have turned into friends. Some have stayed acquaintances and there are those that I have forgotten their names. Some are healthy and some are, well, NOT! I believe that I am probably a bi-product of them all. They have showed me what I want to be like and what I don't want to be like! I have to mention Dee. She is my best friend of thirty-five years! Although we live in different states, she will always be my best friend because she knows way too much about me!! Plus, she has taught me how to be a real friend!

And then there is Gaby! God bless Gaby! She also knows way too much about me! She has been my mentor for the last fifteen years of my journey. Some of her words of wisdom to me has been: "Just how important is it?" "What is your part in this situation?" "Acceptance is the answer to all our problems today." "What is your part in it?" And the best one is "This too shall pass". Thanks Gaby for loving me when I couldn't love myself. You are truly missed.

Probably the most significant motivation is my family. My two sons are, in my opinion, two of the most incredibly fascinating human beings that I have ever known. I would like them even if they weren't my sons. They have taught me more than they will ever know.

My oldest son, Craig, the sunshine on my shoulders guy, has encouraged me for a very long time to put all of my thoughts together and continue to help people. He is helping me, even today, to build this website. His hard work, focusing on his own websites, has been a real inspiration for me. His love for his wife and her family is teaching me how to reach out to others.

My youngest son, Brian, told me when he was eighteen years old that he did not need a "mommy" any longer, however, he would always need me as his "Mother". He taught me detachment did not mean to stop loving. What a wise young man.

I will be fifty-five in 2007 and my mother, who now lives with me, taught me just last week how to make a pie crust. Now that was a real challenge for the both of us! Two women in a small kitchen, one attempting to "instruct" the other one. You had to have been there!!!! We are working on building a relationship we were unable to achieve when we were both a lot younger!

I'd like to also mention that I have learned something special from each intimate relationship that God has given me. One taught me to keep working on myself. Another one how to laugh and be spontaneous. And another one taught me to slow down and wait: "Things will look different tomorrow after you have slept".

So I am building this website to get information out to as many of you as I possibly can to help you get started on becoming healthy and happy. I want to thank my family for all their love and support. A simple plan for living has given me the opportunity for the most important element of being alive: to be available to participate in my family's lives! Life is so short and precious. I believe my purpose on earth is to continue to help people the best way that I can. THANK YOU GOD!!!

Thanks,
